Agree or Disagree: A marriage between a gay man and a straight woman can work

This is a story of a man and a woman.

A Christian man and a Christian woman.

The Twist? He is gay. And she knows it, and is still married to him.

So, they are Christian and married. One is gay. Many Christians would have issues with that.

But if they divorce? Many Christians could have issues with that.

But, do you think this type of marriage could be healthy?

Here is his story.

What do you think? Can this work?

Here is her story.

Agree or Disagree-If you could, you would homeschool your children.

There has been some discussion about this on the Internet the last week or so.

It started with Matt Walsh. Yes, THAT Matt Walsh! The one of Matt Walsh Blog Fame! He wrote this piece on homeschooling that seemed to cause an uproar.

Now, at some point I will speak to my actual opinion of Matt Walsh. Today is not that day.

Yes, he argues for homeschool. As you will also read, he argues that children that are home schooled are more successful than those in a regular school.

However, there are those who disagree with that. This is one example.

As well, I’m sure you have an opinion. Perhaps you are a parent or a child that was involved with home schooling. Or, you decided not too.

Would you home school your children?

Agree or Disagree: The Podcast- We say goodbye to a Calgary Institution-Lido Cafe

After 70 years in Calgary, Lido Cafe is closing it’s doors.
Not because of poor business, or service. It’s because the restaurant will be replaced by a Condominium complex. Aptly named Lido!

Terry Lo @calgarydreamer and I talk about the impact Lido had on the community.
We interviewed Pam, the owner of Lido since October 31,1990. Unfortunately, that interview did not record. However we do talk about the topics we cover. Those include,

-Her love for the customers
–The political circumstances when they took over
-How impressive it is to last that long in a turbulent restaurant market
-Her secret for success
-The 4 most popular dishes at Lido
-How 4 generations of families enjoyed Lido

If you are listening to this on Saturday, there will be a party from 6-9 pm. There will be paintings, and an opportunity to say goodbye.

Closing day will be Monday April 28.

Agree or Disagree: There is good information around the issues of Autism

Agree or Disagree: There is good information around the issues of Autism

The topic of Autism is not one we have discussed.

To give the above blog some context, it would be important that you read this story.

It is a story about the apparent murder-suicide of 40 year old mother Angie Robinson and her son 16 year old Robert.  Robert had Autism.

Now when the word Autism is used, there is different and various reactions to it. At this point, I’m not going to delve into all of them. That will be later.

I’m going to leave this to Zita Dube-Lockhart. She wrote the above post in response to the story and the reporting of what happened with Angie and Robert Robinson. She is writing from a perspective of a mother. Her son Sam has autism.

This will be the first of somewhat two part discussion. The first will be this blog.  The second will be an Agree or Disagree: The Podcast with Zita on Autism. That will be posted early next week.

However, do you think that we have been given good information around autism? What are your perceptions and knowledge around autism?

Agree or Disagree: Adultery is becoming more socially acceptable.

This is an article from  Eleanorewells about the current perception on adultery.

I’ll let you read it and unpack her perspective. However, this quote I want to point out.

The declining incidence of marriage, the growing rate of cohabitation, and the steady divorce rate could lead one to conclude that marriage has become less sacred. People may be starting to acknowledge the reality that “til death do us part” is, perhaps, unrealistic in many cases and that sometimes married people fall in love with people who are not their spouses.  Studies show that infidelity is on the rise.  Adultery may have become less scandalous because we see so much of it. In pop culture, we know who’s cheating with who, and why, and even the aftermath of having been caught.

Do you think adultery is becoming more socially acceptable?
