The Thank You Experiment-Day 3.

Today I’m thankful for learning something new and becoming aware of something I can do better

I had lunch with a friend today. She works in a different building then I do. So we went there. She works in one of the new buildings at SAIT. There’s lots of places to eat.

We complete our lunch and she decides to go to The Second Cup for a coffee. She places her order. I stand there and be charming.

But what happens next surprises me. My friend asks the Server her name.

“Your new, what is your name?” She asks.

It was such a rare gem of politeness, that I never thought of doing. I got to thinking about the amount of times, I have been a regular at places and I’ve never asked for their name. I’ve gotten great service, which has included some free stuff. As much as it is fair to expect great service, I’m now reflecting on I forget that the servers are people too.

So, thank you to my friend for showing me a better way to treat people.

For those who don’t know, this is day 3 of the 31 day Thank You Experiment. For those who missed here is Day 2 https://kevinolenick.wordpress.com/2012/10/02/the-thank-you-experiment-day-2/ and day 1 https://kevinolenick.wordpress.com/2012/10/01/the-thank-you-experiment-day-number-1/.
